Four Trailblazing Women in the World of Fashion

Overview

For my UI/UX project, I created a website to showcase the impactful stories of four trailblazing women in the fashion industry. Designed in Figma, the website tells the story of Coco Chanel, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, and Rei Kawakubo, highlighting their groundbreaking contributions to fashion. I aimed to design a modern, innovative website that pays tribute to these women while also engaging visitors with interactive, multimedia elements.

Target Audience

This website caters to fashion enthusiasts, young fashion students, professionals, and anyone interested in the stories of influential women in the fashion world. It also serves as an educational resource for a broader audience.

Design Concept

Homepage Design: I used an AI-generated minimalist silhouette image of four women in fashion, with unique features to represent each trailblazing figure. The minimalist design emphasized simplicity and sophistication, while the digital art format modernized the look. Magazine-Style

Layout: Each page of the website was structured like a digital magazine, with a main cover photo and bold headlines. The single-scroll design mimics the experience of reading a magazine, a fitting tribute to fashion’s long history in magazines, like Vogue, which feature influential figures.

Interactive Elements: To enhance user engagement, I included video clips of the featured women, image carousels showcasing fashion collections, navigation options, and audio clips of the women’s iconic quotes. These elements deepen the visitor’s connection to the content while providing an immersive experience.

Design & Usability

The design uses dark, sophisticated colors and elegant typography to capture the elegance of fashion. The layout is clean and minimalistic, with enough white space to enhance readability and focus on the content.

The website is optimized for both desktop and mobile, ensuring accessibility and smooth navigation across devices. I followed key design principles, including a main navigation bar, clickable images, and intuitive arrows to guide users easily through the site.

Interactive features like video carousels and embedded audio clips engage users and provide a more dynamic experience. I also ensured the website is user-friendly with clear headings, subheadings, and buttons, making it easy for visitors to explore each section effortlessly.

Next Steps

  • Improve Interactivity: Add more interactive features like hover effects and animations.
  • User Feedback: Gather feedback from users to identify areas for improvement.
  • Expand Content: Include more detailed stories, quotes, and social media integration.
  • Mobile Refinement: Fine-tune mobile usability, especially with videos and carousels.

What I’d Do Differently

  • Enhanced Videos: Create interactive video timelines to show each icon’s fashion evolution.
  • Use Original Visuals: Instead of AI-generated images, incorporate original photos or illustrations.
  • Typography: Experiment with different fonts to match each woman’s style.
  • More User Interaction: Add a quiz or personalized recommendations for users.
